# Chitmonk docs > Chitmonk is a meeting companion that runs in a browser tab: it transcribes on the device, lets the room say who is speaking, and ends with a receipt. It has no server, no account and no API. Integration is the .chit file, a ZIP holding each meeting's complete event log. Chitmonk is proprietary; these pages document what is needed to work with your own meetings. ## Start here - [Chitmonk docs](https://docs.chitmonk.com/index.md): What you need to work with Chitmonk and the meetings it saves. The .chit file, the other exports, and how the app behaves. - [Using Chitmonk](https://docs.chitmonk.com/using.md): The keys, the languages, where meetings are kept, and what to know before you rely on it. - [Privacy](https://docs.chitmonk.com/privacy.md): What stays on the device, the few things that can ever leave it, exactly how usage statistics are collected, who handles what, and how to have something removed. ## The .chit file - [The .chit bundle](https://docs.chitmonk.com/chit.md): The file a meeting leaves Chitmonk in. A ZIP holding a manifest and the complete event log of each meeting. - [The event log](https://docs.chitmonk.com/chit/events.md): Every event in a meeting file, its fields, and the rules for replaying a log into the meeting as it stands. - [Read a bundle](https://docs.chitmonk.com/chit/read.md): Open a .chit, check it, and replay it into a transcript with speakers, action items and decisions. One short script, standard library only. - [Write a bundle](https://docs.chitmonk.com/chit/write.md): Make a .chit that Chitmonk will import, from a transcript you already have. The smallest valid bundle, and the rules that trip people up. ## More - [Other exports](https://docs.chitmonk.com/exports.md): The Markdown, plain text and Word files Chitmonk writes, for when a reader is all you need. - [For agents](https://docs.chitmonk.com/agents.md): Where the plain-text copies of these pages are, what an agent can and cannot do with Chitmonk, and the rules for touching someone's meetings. - [Chet](https://docs.chitmonk.com/chet.md): A field guide to Chet, the Chitmonk Chipmunk, who takes the minutes and has never been to the cloud. ## Legal - [Terms of use](https://docs.chitmonk.com/terms.md): The agreement for using Chitmonk: what you may do, who owns what, your duty to tell people you are recording, and the limits on what Chitmonk is responsible for. - [Proprietary, for now](https://docs.chitmonk.com/licence.md): Who owns what: Chitmonk, its name and its chipmunk are ours, your meetings are yours, and the file format is documented so you can build on it. ## Files - [JSON Schema of a bundle](https://docs.chitmonk.com/chit.schema.json): manifest.json, a meeting file, and every event. Generated from the validator the app imports with. - [Sample bundle](https://docs.chitmonk.com/sample.chit): one short meeting with a confirmed speaker, a guessed one, an undo, an edit, a note and two action items. - [Everything in one file](https://docs.chitmonk.com/llms-full.txt)
